We knew that we were faster than Hughes Hall, but we also expected that they would be faster than Jesus II. Unfortunately it was Hughes who were quicker at bumping the crew in front, and by the time we reached First Post corner both the bump and the overbump were off the cards; in fact the eight boats ahead of us all bumped out. We still produced a fine, confident row over and have excellent prospects for the rest of the week.
